How to create a video DVD in a Linux desktop environment

  
                

We all know that DeVeDe can make videos and files into video DVDs. How should DeVeDe be used under Linux? The following small series will introduce you how to create a video DVD using the DeVeDe tool in the Linux desktop environment.

DeVeDe is an open source (GPLv3) DVD authoring software that allows you to create video DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs or DivX from any number of video files. DeVeDe relies on other software such as Mplayer, FFMpeg, MEncoder, DVDAuthor, VCDImager, and MKisofs for format conversion. As such, it supports a wide variety of mainstream input video/audio formats (eg .mp4, .avi, .mpg, .mkv). You can choose between PAL and NTSC video formats, as well as field menus or subtitles.

DeVeDe can come in handy if you want to keep or distribute your vacation, home or entertainment video and audio copies.

Installing Devede

Debian, Ubuntu and its derivatives:

# aptitude install devede

RHEL or CentOS:

Enabling EPEL And the Nux Dextop repository, then run:

# yum install devede

Fedora:

Enable the RPM Fusion repository and run:

# yum install devede

Creating a Video DVD with DeVeDe

Start DeVeDe and select the video DVD from the menu.

In the next screen, DeVeDe will automatically add a title to the collection. You can edit the description text (1), add a file (2), and then add another title. This procedure can be repeated as needed.

After the end of the current title, & ldquo; the title property & rdquo; dialog allows you to choose between six to be implemented behavior. When you are done, click OK:
