What does it mean that some content is incompatible?
Our goal is to make most devices compatible with Win10 without major incompatibilities. However, in some cases you may encounter this type of problem. In general, incompatibilities can be grouped into the following four categories:
• application incompatible — incompatible applications indicate that the application can run on your current computer, but may not work properly on Win10. Incompatible apps may only have unimportant feature issues or they may not work at all. In some cases, we may need to uninstall the app during the upgrade process as it interferes with the installation process and prevents it from completing properly. Depending on the application, you may be able to reinstall the app after upgrading to Win10.
• Device incompatible — Incompatible devices indicate that the device can run on your current computer, but due to lack of driver support, it may no longer work properly on Win10. This can cause the experience to degrade (for example, the display does not support high resolution) or the entire device cannot run. However, the manufacturer can support the device in the future. Some devices or computer components may be critical to keeping Win10 up and running. If such devices are not compatible, you will not be able to upgrade to Win10.
• Computer Settings — Your computer's specific configuration may prevent Win10 from being installed on this computer. In some cases, you can take some action during the installation process to alleviate this issue. In other cases, we may require a fresh install of Win10, which means that only your personal files will be retained after the upgrade.
• Windows Media Center— If you use Windows Media Center, we will remind you that Windows Media Center is not available on Win10.
