Detailed Windows 7 support for VHD virtual disks

Windows 7 adds support for Virtual Hard Disks (VHD), which means we can create a VHD directly in Windwos 7 and load it into the current system, making it work like In a real hard drive. Of course, we can also add an existing VHD, the whole operation is very flexible!

VHD applications are becoming more widely used, and Windows 7 will also begin to directly support the use of VHD. What does this mean? Perhaps, in the future, we store files not just in a folder, but more likely to create a VHD, store related files in it, so that we can carry it more and mount it. Go to any Windwos 7 system and even open it on a virtual machine. This feature is significant, Microsoft 360-degree virtualization application is infiltrating into every corner … …

Creating or adding a VHD in Windows 7 is very simple, and all operations are performed in disk management, as follows As shown in the figure, we can easily create a custom-sized virtual disk. It can be a dynamically expanding virtual disk or a fixed-size virtual disk! Of course, we can also add an existing VHD by "Attach VHD". However, it should be noted that in the actual test, if the VHDs of the Attach are created by a previous Virtual PC or Server, they will be rejected. The specific reasons have yet to be explained by official information!

The following picture shows the VHD Mount Online that has been created. In the device management we can see that a new “Microsoft VHD HBA” driver is automatically added to the current hardware list. In addition, we can quickly uninstall the VHD (popping the disk) through the device icon in the system bar just like using a removable disk or a USB flash drive.

Finally, you need to be prompted, if you create a new VHD directly and execute the first Mount, it may fail. Don't worry, just reattach the VHD! The product is still in the testing stage, understandable!
