How to downgrade Win7 Ultimate to Home Edition?

Can Windows 7 Ultimate be downgraded to Home Premium or Home Basic?

As you know, after upgrading to the Windows 7 Ultimate in the low-level version, there will be no such thing as "Windows Anytime Upgrade" in the Win7 system, and a warning will appear if you try to downgrade.

There is a reason for Microsoft to ban downgrades. A low version of the system may cause some confusion when it comes to a higher version of the system.

However, if you really want to downgrade but don't want to format the reload, there is a workaround to open the registry and locate it:

“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion&<<>

Then, on the right side, modify the value of "EditionID"; "HomePremium", and then modify the value of "ProductName" to "Windows 7 HomePremium", let the installer think of the current system. It is a lower version (note that the modified registry value name here must match the system name on your installation disk) and then reinstall it with the original installation CD (requires reactivation).

Modify Registry Keys

Note that this method can only be downgraded to Home Premium. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to protect the data, or to back up the data, and then reformat and then install it.
