When sharing files on Windows 7, many problems occur, especially between different versions of Windows. For example, the workgroup name is different, the settings are incorrect, etc. In order to solve these problems, a set of operational procedures is given below for reference.

Step 1: Synchronize Workgroups

Regardless of the version of the Windows operating system you use, the first step is to ensure that the working group names of the computers connected to the network are the same.

To view or change the computer's workgroup, computer name, etc., right-click on "Computer”, select “Properties>;

If the information needs to be changed, please In the “Computer Name, Domain and Workgroup Settings” column, click “Change Settings

Click “Change

Enter the appropriate computer name /After the name of the work group, press “OK>;

After this step is completed, restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

Step 2: Change the settings related to Windows 7

Open “Control Panel\\Network and Internet\\Network and Sharing Center\\Advanced Sharing Settings

Enable &ldquo "Network Discovery", "File and Printer Sharing", "Public Folder Sharing", "Shared with Password Protection", please select “Close Password Protected Share

Note: The media stream is also best turned on; in addition, in the "Family Group" section, it is recommended to select "Allow Windows to manage home group connections (recommended)".

Step 3: Shared Object Settings

Now, we turn to shared objects. The most straightforward way: Drag and drop files/folders that need to be shared directly into a public folder.

If you need to share some specific Windows 7 folders, right click on this folder and select “Properties>;

Click “Share” tags, click “ Advanced sharing & rdquo; button;

Tick "Share this folder", click “ Apply & rdquo;, & ldquo; OK & rdquo; Exit.

If a folder is set to share, all its subfolders will be set to share by default.

In the second step above, we have turned off password protected sharing, so now we have to make some changes to the security permissions of the shared folder. Right click on the folder you want to share and select “Properties”. On the "Security" page, click “Edit” .

Next, click the “Add” button.

After typing Everyone, press “OK” to exit.

Check “Everyone”, check the permissions in the permission selection bar that will be given to Everyone.

Step four: firewall settings

Open & ldquo; Control Panel /System and Security /Windows Firewall & rdquo; check the firewall settings to ensure that & ldquo; File and Printer Sharing & rdquo; is allowed status.

Step 5: View shared files

Open “Control Panel">“Network and Internet>>“View Network Computers and Devices>>“ (Related Computers /device name)”

This method does help to share files, but network security is reduced by turning off password access.
