Windows 7 SP1 installation prompt 0x800f0a12 solution

With the official release of Windows 7 SP1, most users have smoothly transitioned to SP1, but a small number of users have encountered problems during the upgrade process, which makes SP1 installation impossible. A problem that is currently known to be a headache is that the code is "0x800F0A12" errors during the installation process. Most of the users who have this error are dual systems, that is, Windows 7 plus other systems. The main reason for this error is that the SP1 installer determined that the current system partition could not directly start Windows 7, thus interrupting the installation. (Microsoft's official instructions are that the installer failed to access the system partition to update the necessary files.) If you encounter an SP1 installation error environment similar to the above, you can try the following solutions. In the Start Search box, type “compmgmt.msc” open the computer management interface, select Storage - Disk Management, and check whether the partition where Windows 7 is located contains the "activity" attribute. If not, right click on the partition and select "ld"; Mark as active partition”. Above: After the Win7 partition is set as the active partition, close the computer management window and other applications, start running the Windows 7 SP1 installer or update directly through Windows Update. At this point, this error will not occur again. After the SP1 is fully installed, the original active partition can be reset to active status (if needed) via DISKPART.
