XP can not open Win7U disk

Previously introduced the BitLocker To Go function used to encrypt the drive in Win7, which also caused some doubts, mainly whether it can read and use BitLocker To Go under XP system U disk or mobile hard disk, then can it be?

Experiment it today and share it with everyone.

First encrypt a USB flash drive in Win7~ Steps must be known to everyone, now insert this USB flash drive into the computer with XP SP3 installed. Open “My Computer”, you can see the U disk icon is the same as Win7, with a lock mark.

XP under "My computer" in the U disk

Double-click access will also pop up a dialog box that requires a password.

After entering the password, it is different from Windows7. The interface that appears is called “BitLocker To Go Reader”. As the name suggests, the contents of this U disk can only be viewed and copied to the local, and copying files from the local to the encrypted U disk is not acceptable.

The relationship between BitLocker To Go reader and local hard drive

The experiment process is quite smooth, but there is still a need to explain to everyone: only use FAT or FAT32 format U disk and mobile hard disk can use BitLocker To Go reader in XP. If it is NTFS format, the system will prompt for formatting. If it is formatted, it will be tragedy …… This problem mainly appears on mobile hard disk. Because the capacity of the mobile hard disk is very large, usually adopts the NTFS format. In fact, the solution is also very simple. In the mobile hard disk, a partition of FAT32 format is separated, and a file that needs to be kept secret is placed therein, and then the partition is encrypted. Other spaces can still use the NTFS format.

Let's take a look at …… students using XP system, for system security, you must remember to upgrade to SP3 version~
