Installing Windows7

with a USB flash drive or a removable hard drive

Tells Netbook users a great news! There is a fairly simple way to install Windows 7RC, even if you don't have an external DVD drive!

Download Friends of Windows7 Beta or RC version should know that Microsoft officially provides an ISO file, we need to burn it to a DVD to install the system. However, Netbook users basically do not have a DVD drive. In the past, we only had to find an external DVD to install Windows.

I recommend using USB or mobile hard disk to install Windows7 on Netbook. Whether it is a USB flash drive or a mobile hard drive, we have about 5GB of free space. The entire installation process includes no more than one hour of preparation in the early stage! Here is the detailed method:

1. Download the Windows 7 RC version, it is recommended to download from Microsoft officially, I heard that many BT downloads are The version of the virus containing the Trojan!

Download: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-7/download.ASPx

2. Place your USB flash drive or mobile hard disk Received on your desktop, note that this is not your Netbook! The ideal situation is that our external device is completely empty, does not contain any files and data, because it may cause the installation of Windows7 failed. However, if your conditions do not allow, there are data on the USB flash drive or hard disk, as long as there is at least 5GB of available space!

3. Under Vista: Click the Start button, then search Enter computer management in the box and press Enter.

Under XP: Go to the Control Panel, open the Administrator tool, and select Computer Management.

4. In the left sidebar of the new window, select Disk Management. Find the external device you just inserted in the list on the right (usually at the top). Then right click on the drive and select "Mark as Active Partition" and click OK to confirm any prompts for Windows.

5. Now we need to extract the files in the Windows 7 ISO to our external devices. There are a lot of tools to do this, such as our usual WinZIP, or Undisker, Nero or MagicISO. Be sure to extract all the files to the root directory.

6. Safely remove our external device and plug it into your Netbook. At this point we can open the Netbook for the next step. We will most likely need to change the order in which the system starts up in the BiOS settings. Set your USB drivers to your preferred location. However, when many Netbooks are powered on, you can use the function keys to enter the interface for boot device selection, such as Acer's ASPire One. We can click F12 to enter the menu after the startup screen.

7. If the USB device starts up properly, the Windows 7 installer should start running. The rest is exactly the same as the CD installation.

For the location where Windows 7 is installed, please prepare at least 12G of space. If you want to install on your original system disk, the original system will be replaced by Windows7! So pay attention to save personal data! Hope that the above method can be given to Netbook users or PC users who do not have an external DVD drive. Provide some help!
