Windows 7 built-in function to adjust the partition is not asking for people

There are users who ask how much capacity the Windows 7 partition needs and how to adjust the system partition after installation. Indeed, the system space required for Vista after the system partition is more than the previous system, for those who are new to Windows7, they still need to explore. And some people are not familiar with the Windows 7 partitioning program, and even the entire hard disk is a partition. This article uses examples to explain the use of Windows 7 comes with software to complete partitioning, creation, and expansion.

Step1: Enter the system management interface. Find the computer in the Start menu /right click on the computer and select Manage /Access Disk Management in Storage.

Step2: Compress existing partitions. Find the hard disk you need to adjust, you can see the graphical partition diagram. Right click on the partition to be reduced /select compressed volume /software will automatically calculate the size that can be compressed, if the compressible value is relatively small, it is best to defragment /enter a compressed value, click on the compression. After the operation is completed, unallocated space will appear at the back of the original partition.

Step3: Create a new partition. Right-click on the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume/Follow Wizard. Enter the parameters such as volume size (partition capacity), drive number, partition format, and so on. Friendly reminder, it is recommended to check the quick format to speed up the formatting.

Step4: Adjust the partition size. Disk management that comes with Windows 7 also allows for partition sizing. Compress as well as partitioning, then right click on the next volume and select Expand Volume. However, this extension is a bit weak and can only extend partitions between unallocated spaces.

How to create an extended partition directly

In the disk management of Windows7, it is no longer possible to create an extended partition directly. If you want to create an extended partition separately, you must use the diskpart command. In fact, I don't think it is necessary to create an extended partition specifically in Windows 7. When the number of created partitions is greater than 3, the partition is automatically converted to an extended + logical partition as shown in the figure.
