Win8 system connection to the Internet problem summary

To use Windows 8 or Windows RT, to connect to the Internet, you need an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and some hardware:

ISP. An ISP is a company that provides you with Internet access. Registering an account with an ISP is like registering a phone service or utility. The ISP is usually a telephone company (for DSL or fiber optic connections) or a TV provider (for cable or satellite connections).

Hardware. For broadband connections (such as DSL, fiber or cable connections), you will need a broadband modem. When you register for a broadband account, this device may be included in the initial hardware provided by your ISP. If you want multiple computers to share Internet access, you also need a router (a device that routes traffic between two networks, such as between a home network and the Internet). For dial-up connections, you need to use a dial-up modem.
