How to install Win8.1 Update can take up less C disk space

Microsoft has been launching Win8.1 Update for a while, and many people simply upgrade it by means of system push. Of course, there are users who directly install Windows 8.1 Update. But do you know that installing in one way can reduce the system's occupation of the C disk space? And listen to the small series.

With the official release of Win8.1 Update, Microsoft today introduced a new WIMBoot installation method for Win8.1 Update system. This new WIMBoot (Windows Image Boot, WIMBoot) installation method is called Windows image startup, can occupy less C disk space. For example, using a normal image to install Win8.1 Update system, at least need to occupy about 7G of C disk space, and use WIMBoot installation method only needs to occupy 4G space, for some tablets or hard disk space is not large, it will be compared practical.

Steps to install Win8.1 Update in WIMBoot mode:

1. First prepare a Windows image with Windows 8.1 Update installed, then use DISM to export and optimize the image to prepare for WIMBoot;

2, upgrade Windows PE and DISM to the new version, the new version includes ADK for Windows 8.1;

3, the optimized Win8.1 updata image can be installed on a new computer.

The traditional Windows installation decompresses all the Windows files in the image (WIM) file, while WIMBoot does not decompress the WIM files. This is also the way to save disk space. the reason.

As a world software giant, Microsoft is constantly introducing new software technologies to benefit users. This time, WIMBoot technology will bring a lot of practical value to users. I believe this will become an important basic technology for Windows development in the future. Perhaps we will continue to see it in the upcoming Windows 9 system.
