The method of modifying the hosts in Win8 system

Windows8 is released, I believe many people have already taken it early. I also installed Windows 8 in my home computer. After accessing the company's back office from the home network, I need to modify the hosts, but I found that I can't save it. It is possible that some early adopters will encounter situations that cannot be saved when they need to complete the "residual business" at home. Another situation is to access some foreign websites that are usually inaccessible, or to bypass some software certifications, etc. In general, modifying the hosts is something that many users need to encounter, but now windows8 is not allowed to change? What is the swollen thing?

In fact, I complained when I was at windows8 RTM. This so-called "administrator account" is getting farther and farther away from the administrator. It may be Microsoft's security considerations, and now Windows 8 is less able to manage than the Windows 7 "administrator".

The real reason for not saving is that this file does not have write access to the normal user (users group). Our so-called "administrator account" is usually a normal user. It will only be promoted to administrator privileges when the UAC interface is popped up, or when the program is run as "administrator", which is basically equivalent to installing under the mac system. The software needs to enter a password. This time it is the real administrator. When using the software, it is usually users.

The hosts file in Windows 8 does not give users permission to write, so we added it.

Right click on the host file, properties. At the same time we see that deleting and renaming this file requires elevated privileges.

On the "Security" page, select the user group users we want to modify. Next we need to modify the permissions of this file for users, click Edit.

In the pop-up dialog box, select the users group, you can see that only poor read, read and execute two permissions.

The "Full Control" permission is checked, written, and modified. It is also automatically checked and confirmed.

At this point, you will be prompted to do this to reduce the security of the cloud, click "Yes" to continue.

In this way, the hosts file can be modified and saved. If you don't feel comfortable, this will bring security problems. After the modification, you can change it back as it is, leaving only "read", "read and execute". can.
