Windows 8 Add or Remove Device Tips

  

In Windows 7 and earlier Windows XP operating systems, adding or removing hardware devices is done through <;Device Manager", and Windows 8 provides another A new way to add or remove various devices.

Open “computer settings”

In fact, Windows 8's "Device Manager" is still retained, and the old users can still be in the "Control Panel" Find it, and the new users are now using Windows 8's latest "Computer Settings" interface.

Move the mouse arrow to the top or bottom of the right side of the screen. This is a transparent menu on the right side of the screen, click on the bottom setting icon. In the pop-up settings interface, click on the bottom of the "Change PC settings" option. This enters the computer settings interface. Then click on the device option in the left menu to see a list of the various hardware devices connected to the current computer on the right (Figure 1).

Adding a new device to install

Usually when a user connects a new device to a computer, Windows 8 will automatically detect and install it. If Windows 8 does not find the corresponding driver, the user It can be downloaded and installed from its manufacturer's website. However, there are some exceptions. When a new device is installed on a computer, Windows 8 cannot automatically detect it, such as a wireless network printer. In this case, the user needs to manually install the device.

First, make sure the device is connected to your computer and turn it on. Click the “Add device” option at the top of the device list. Windows 8 will automatically search for the device. After a few seconds, it will show up. The device that was discovered. Then click on the device you want to install and go to the installation driver process. The process time depends on the size of the data in the driver. When the progress bar is finished, the device is installed.

Tips: You won't see all the hardware devices in this device list, such as boards, hard drives, CD-ROM drives, etc., which display monitors, printers, scanners, mouse and keyboard, mobile phones, These external devices, such as flash memory, can even display the Xbox 360 game console connected to the computer.

Deleting an installed device

In the list of hardware devices, when you click on a device with the mouse, a minus sign appears on the right side of the device, and then click the minus sign, Windows 8 will Ask to confirm that you want to delete this device? (Figure 2) Click the “Delete” button and the device will no longer appear in the device list after the process is over.

On a computer with Windows 8, using the “Computer Settings' interface, adding or removing devices will be very easy.
