How to modify the installation location of Win10 application

How to modify the installation location of Win10? In the era of Win8, Microsoft restricted Windows application store applications to be installed only in the C drive. In this regard, many users are complaining, because the C drive space is too tight. In Win10, Microsoft has considered this issue and provided a solution. I don't know about this feature and friends who haven't experienced the Windows 10 preview yet. Let's take a look at the triple play.
How to install an application to another partition
The first method
Open the setting ——system——save, you will see the "Save Location" setting on the right side, here you You can set up the app to install to other partitions, even mobile storage devices (including mobile hard drives or USB sticks), but not to network drives.
This function does not require you to format the selected partition, so the original file in the partition can be retained. However, for insurance reasons, you should back up your own files.
If you choose to install to a mobile storage device, when you disconnect the mobile storage device, the application installed on the mobile device will not be able to open, but the system will still operate normally. After reconnecting the mobile storage device, the application can be restored. normal.
When you choose to install the app to other partitions, the system will automatically create three new folders in the partition: one of the folders has the same name as your computer, and is used to save the user profile. The other two folders are respectively WindowsApps and WpSystem, WindowsApps is used to save application files, and WpSystem is used to save application-related data. You can open these folders to view the files.
Among them, the files in the WindowsApps folder are encrypted, so if you install the app to the mobile storage device, you don't have to worry about this part of the data leakage if the device is lost. However, the saved user configuration folder is not encrypted. It is still a preview version and may be encrypted in subsequent versions.
Second Method
Step 1. Open the Registry Editor by opening the Start menu, left-clicking Run, and after running the dialog box, type regedit
Step 2. Find the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion
Step 3. On the right side, you can find the project whose value is ProgramFilesDir. The default value data is “C:\\Program Files”, and change this value to your location. The path you need to set, such as “D:\\Program Files”, then OK, quit the Registry Editor
After changing the application installation location, only the new application will be installed to the new location, the installed application will not be automatically Transfer.
This feature is very useful for Windows tablets with only 32GB of storage space, users can finally install the application to an external storage device such as an SD card. As for the computer with a large capacity hard disk, if you allow it, it is recommended that you try to give the C drive more space.
