How to adjust the default spacing between Win10/win8/Win8.1 desktop icons?

  

win10 official version not only adds a lot of new features, but also changes in some function settings. For example, in the Windows 10 system, the "Advanced Appearance Settings" (or "Window Color and Appearance" setting) is removed. If the win10 system user wants to adjust the desktop icon spacing, he can only enter the registry to modify it. So, how do you do this? Below, Xiaobian will share with you.

Especially in touch-screen devices, turning up the spacing between icons can make touch operations easier. If you have such a requirement, please refer to the following method:

Methods apply to: Win8, Win8.1, Win10 systems.

1, press Win+R to open the run, enter regedit and press Enter to open the registry editor;

2, expand the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\Desktop\\ WindowMetrics

3, you will find a string value called IconSpacing on the right side, which represents the horizontal spacing between desktop icons. The algorithm is:

-15*pitch pixel value

For example, the default value is -1125, which means the horizontal spacing is 75 pixels (px). Modify it to the value you need, such as 100 pixels, and change the IconSpacing value to -1500.

4. Modify the IconVerticalSpacing value in the same way. This value represents the vertical spacing between desktop icons.

5. After the modification is completed, cancel the account and log in to the system again. Then uncheck "“ align icon with grid" in the right-click menu — view, and then re-tick.

After that, you will find that the spacing between desktop icons has become larger, as shown below:
