HP said that Win10/Win8.1 equipment inventory needs to be digested before Win10 takes off

As a PC sales OEM, HP HP's recent days are not good. According to the latest statistics from IDC, global PC sales in the second quarter of 2015 fell by 11.8%, which undoubtedly poured cold water on various manufacturers. In the long run, the days of these manufacturers are even worse. Hewlett-Packard also deeply understands the benefits of this, so I hope that Win10 will take time to digest Win8/Win8.1 equipment inventory.

Microsoft's Windows 10 has a free upgrade policy. Specifically, Win7/Win8.1 devices can be upgraded to the new system for free within one year after the official release of Win10. Many manufacturers, including Hewlett-Packard, are not optimistic about this policy. They believe that this will not help the sales of new equipment, but it will hinder the old equipment users because they have no reason to buy new computers.

Dion Weisler, head of HP's PC business, said that the company currently has a large inventory of Windows 8/Windows 8.1 devices, and it will take some time to upgrade these devices to Win10. Since Microsoft only gives users a free upgrade time of one year, the company predicts that the transition period between the old and new systems will be completed within three months after the official release of Win10, or even compressed to one month. As a result, the original Win8.1 device must be upgraded to Win10 before users are willing to buy, so it will inevitably have a negative impact on the sales of Win8.1 devices. However, the good news is that the feedback from Win10 is very good at present, and the excellent operating system is very important for the ecosystem and the whole industry. Therefore, after this phase is over, there may be a turnaround.
