US media recommended that ordinary users do not install Win10: the application crash frequency is amazing

Microsoft's Windows 10 announced last week marked the beginning of a new era for the company. After Microsoft released Windows 10, there have been many users trying to install the system on a laptop or desktop. If this is the final version, perhaps it should be. But after using the system for a week, I think it's a very bad idea to install Windows 10 now. In fact, I do not recommend users to install the system in a short period of time. The reasons are as follows:

1, this is the technical preview version

The large-scale upgrade of Windows is not common. Since Windows Vista, Microsoft has had such an upgrade every three years. Such a slow pace means that there are often many repressed demands from the old users, and there is an urgent need to solve the existing problems. Today's Windows 10 and Windows 8 focus on this.

The current release of Windows 10 is actually to focus on solving the problem of Windows 8. The new system allows users to choose a new start directory, and the Windows Store app can now be opened directly in the desktop environment. But there is still a problem, although this sounds very basic changes, but it is very technical, I am worried that Windows Technology Preview can not achieve these functions perfectly.

After all, it's just a preview. The frequency of crashing apps like Mail is amazing. This problem has not been fully resolved and has therefore become an important reason why the system should not be installed too early. It is true that testing the new system is fun, but it does not fully explain the user experience we are looking for.

2, there is a problem with downgrade

Windows 8 is not so bad, the system introduces two very useful system repair functions, one called "reset", another item is called “Restore”. With these two features, users can restore their Windows 8 PC to the factory state at any time. Users can choose to delete all data or return to a clean installation state while retaining all data.

Microsoft said that installing Windows 10 Technology Preview will completely destroy these features. More specifically, if you install Windows 10 on your device, you will lose the ability to "reset" & "restore" & "restore" to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. You may not be able to do this by clicking the button. Instead, create a restore disk for your PC, boot from the restore disk, and reinstall everything. Reinstalling a device in this way will completely delete all files on the hard disk.

3, the use of the experience is not perfect

The Windows 10 technology preview on the Microsoft website may have a lot of cool features, many of which are long-awaited by notebook and desktop users. However, during my trial, I still found some key things missing.

The mouse and keyboard experience is very good, and the touch screen and morphing device experience is poor. As a user who has been using Windows for 8 years, I like the full screen experience of the Windows Store app. Windows 10 Technology Preview, which opens the Windows Store app in the desktop environment by default, and will include an annoying title bar. You can implement full screen on the app, but once closed, it will be restored to the desktop app. The Windows taskbar will also be displayed all the time.

Microsoft plans to address this issue. The company has discussed a new user interface called Continuum, which is used on morphing devices, between the desktop and the start screen. Unfortunately, we have to wait until next year to see this kind of website. If you use Surface Pro or any morphing device, you definitely don't want to upgrade to Windows 8 now. At least wait until the legendary Windows 10 Consumer Preview is released before installing.

In short, it is best for regular users not to install the Windows 10 Technology Preview.
