Windows 10 zero difficulty installation method: Start Win10

from VHD This tutorial to start Win10 from VHD is released in the comments of some netizens. The author is MSDN of IT Home Forum... everyone applauds him! VHD is a virtual disk file format. We can install the system in a VHD and boot the operating system directly from the VHD file. The characteristics of this startup mode:

First, no production difficulty, no need to take a partition to install the system, no impact on the original system, uninstall is also very convenient. Second, the virtual disk is also used to install the system, but the virtual machine installation performance is greatly reduced. Use this method to get a performance experience that is indistinguishable from physical machine installation. However, Win10's quick start mechanism needs to be installed in the physical machine to function properly (can't sleep in VHD), so this method is not suitable for friends who want to experience quick start. Conditional friends are still recommended to install in the physical machine, see Win10 preview version of the new, dual system installation method detailed explanation. Third, it is more convenient to manage, just remove the virtual disk and boot menu to uninstall. The uninstall method is also mentioned at the end. Note: This method is only applicable to Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Windows Server 2008 R2, WinPE 3.0 system, and can be installed with 32 or 64 bits.

Installation steps:

1, download Windows10 (download page), open the ISO image. Note: The virtual CD-ROM drive can be loaded under Win7 (click to download)

2, download the new version VHD_OneKey

Software Name:
Windows VHD/VHDX Auxiliary Processing Tools 2013
size:
1.6MB
updated:
2014-10-03

③, open VHD_OneKey , in contrast to the following figure, first create a VHD and inject the system image into the VHD.

Parameter Description:

The location of the VHD can be anywhere on the computer hard disk, but note that the partition file system must be NTFS, the whole process will not affect the partition. Other files; the format of the VHD can be set to dynamically expand; the size of the VHD needs to be set by itself, and the recommended maximum capacity is not less than 40G. For dynamic type disks, the size is limited to the maximum capacity. The actual size is the size of all files after installation. As the number of files increases, it will become larger, which is called dynamic. However, please be sure to ensure that the partition has enough free space (the remaining space is larger than the set VHD size), otherwise it will not start normally; mount the WIM location of the VHD to select the install.wim file under the sources in the mounted image; Select 1 for the image number;

After setting, click OK. In the confirmation window that pops up, click “ is ”. After the VHD is created, it will be automatically mounted. If the system prompts the dialog box to pop up, “Use it after formatting”, you can cancel it without formatting. Wait for the progress to reach 100% and a completion prompt appears.

4Add a boot menu. Refer to the figure below, select the VHD you just created, click “ Add VHD Project to BCD”. Waiting for the addition to complete.

You can restart after the addition is complete! After rebooting, you need to make some settings. In the middle, you need to enter the key, NKJFK-GPHP7-G8C3J-P6JXR-HQRJR, or you can skip the entry and enter the system to activate the key.

Uninstallation method:

Back to your original system, perform the following two operations:

1, delete the menu. In the second image, click “ Remove .....” from BCD. 2. Delete the VHD file.

Finally: This article is based on the forum's "Starting Windows 8 from VHD" article. The original text needs to replace bootmgr. The friends in the group shared a newer VHD_OneKey tool. The steps of adding menus have been improved, and bootmgr is automatically updated. In fact, all the operating commands are not complicated, but it is still the most troublesome to use tools~~
