WP8.1 Cortana has failed

Windows Phone 8.1 Voice Assistant Cortana is still in beta testing, so mistakes in the early push phase are inevitable. Foreign media WPCentral reported that some users of Cortana did have problems.

Some WP users complain that when using Cortana to retrieve information, such as celebrity messages and weather conditions, Cortana will return some witty error messages. Cortana would reply like this: “My suggestion well is dry. Try back later or add some more interests.” (My suggestions are all dry. Please try again later or add more search terms). Similarly, when a user asks about Cortana, Cortana will reply “I'm sorry, the internet and I aren't talking right now.” (Sorry, the Internet and I can't talk about it at the moment). This indicates that Microsoft has encountered some server problems.

Interestingly, Cortana failure also shows that voice assistants rely heavily on Microsoft back-end servers. Microsoft's ability to dynamically update Cortana is also a bottleneck. Cortana can't even set an alarm.

But this should only be a short-lived failure that will end soon. There is currently no indication that this is a large-scale failure and only a small percentage of users are affected. I don't know if other WP8.1 users have similar problems.
