WP leader talks about the current and future of WP8/WP8.1

Computer Store News: Joe Belfiore accepted a deep interview with BGR.in to discuss the development and future of Windows Phone. Foreign media WMPoweruser summed up its 6,000-word interview. Now let's take a look:

Joe explained that in the development of WP, they will focus on some functions that will help expand the market. (like dual card dual standby) and features that make WP attractive (like Cortana).

Joe also expressed the hope that the WP8/WP8.1 universal application can further narrow the application gap. He acknowledged that WP is not as good as the low-end market in the high-end market, mainly due to the introduction of cutting-edge Android devices.

He also said that Nokia and Microsoft engineers worked closely together before the acquisition, and the biggest benefit was more consistent marketing information. Joe s said that the other 16 OEMs still have a lot of room, they will not eat into Nokia's market share.

Joe still has a lot of enthusiasm for Nokia X, saying it's a good test to see how users react to a device that uses Microsoft interface services but is powered by Android apps. Joe did say "unfortunately" this phone does not run the WP app, but did not say whether this will change in the future, saying: "We don't talk about the product roadmap today".

He also did not comment on Google’s relationship, but said that he was willing to cooperate with Google in his own right.

As for the WP upgrade, he said that there will be three updates a year, and that application and service backend updates like Cortana, Bing and Xbox Music will be more frequent.

Joe also mentioned that Moto E is a counterattack against the Nokia Lumia 520, saying that "the competition is cruel, but we will be calm and arrogant."
