Microsoft will eventually integrate Windows RT and WP

Computer store news: Surface RT is Microsoft's key product in the tablet field, but the actual market realization of the device is far from expected. Obviously, Windows RT is hard to blame.

Many people believe that Microsoft should base Windows 8 on the desktop and notebook market. WP is based on mobile phones and tablets, and Windows RT is a superfluous existence.

In July of this year, Microsoft reorganized, and Windows, WP, Xbox operating systems and system-related services were all assigned to the operating system department, and Terry Myerson was responsible. At the company's financial analyst meeting recently, Myerson hinted at the future direction of Windows RT,

“ ARM devices, especially mobile phones, after the incredible battery life, the product line has become blurred. Windows RT (Surface RT) is our first ARM tablet. As the mobile phone expands into the tablet field, we expect to see more ARM tablets and Windows ARM tablets in the future.

We really should provide the same user interface, a unified developer programming interface on all of our devices, and all the apps we provide to consumers should be able to run on all of their devices. ”

ZDNet's famous Microsoft observer Mary Jo Foley believes that based on Myerson's above hints, Windows RT may be fused with WP in the future. Since both Windows RT and WP run on ARM architecture processors and use the same NT kernel, Microsoft is trying to provide developers with a multi-platform unified programming interface, framework, and development tools. As a result, the integration of Windows RT and WP into a system is also reasonable.

Considering the user experience, desktop programs are not suitable for running on small-sized tablets. For increasingly popular 7-inch or 8-inch tablets, Windows RT is more suitable for Windows 8 than Windows 8. The device, that is to say, Win8 will not be "unified by Microsoft". According to Mary Jo Foley, Windows RT and WP may be unified into Windows RT or unified into WP.

With the increasing size of mobile phones and shrinking tablet sizes, the boundaries between the two devices have become blurred. Whether Microsoft needs to continue the dual-line mobile strategy of Windows RT and WP is indeed debatable. Recently, Lenovo Australia Marketing Director Nick Reynolds made it clear that “Windows RT does not have any need to exist. In addition, Intel is gradually making efforts in the mobile field. The Bay Trail-T quad-core processor launched by the company this month has attracted wide attention. The Bay Trail-T supports resolutions up to 2560× 1600, which can achieve more than 10 hours of battery life, and equipment prices can be as low as $350. It is predictable that more affordable high-performance tablets will appear on the market.

The integration of Windows RT and WP will help Microsoft to pool resources and energy to cope with fierce market competition.

However, in the near future, we may not see Microsoft's actual "fusion initiatives". On September 23, Microsoft will launch a second-generation Surface tablet, and Surface 2's successor, Surface 2, is expected to be unveiled. According to rumors, the system will be Windows RT 8.1.
