Mushkin pushes mSATA SSDs up to 480GB

mSATA SSDs are solid-state drives based on the mini-SATA interface protocol. The transmission speed supports 1.5Gbps, 3Gbps and 6Gbps modes. Its small size and light weight are widely used in portable computer related products, and have been well received by the industry. But this product also has its own drawbacks —— capacity issues. The mSATA products that were previously introduced have a maximum capacity of only 256GB. It is obviously not enough to replace the main hard disk. Recently, Mushkin announced that its Atlas series will add new members with a capacity of 480GB.

Atlas series has 60GB, 120GB, 240GB three capacity specifications, claiming to be the world's fastest mSATA solid state drive, continuous reading and writing up to 555MB /s, 530MB /s The maximum 4KB random read and write is 92000 IOPS and 70,000 IOPS.

This new Atlas 480GB still uses the SandForce SF-2281 master, the performance is not clear and only one sentence "unthrottled IOPS" (unrestricted IOPS), but I believe it can not go anywhere. Of course, SandForce masters because of the special design of the architecture and data processing, reading and writing indicators are more beautiful.

Flash memory has not been explained in detail, only high-speed MLC NAND. The overall size is maintained at 50.80× 29.85× 4.35 mm, MO-300 mSATA/mini PCI-E system interface, supporting SATA 6Gbps, TRIM, ATA APM/BCH ECC and other technologies.

Mushkin Atlas 480GB will be shipped globally in mid-January 2013 with a suggested retail price of $499.99 (approximately RMB 3113) and a three-year limited warranty.
