Outlook 2013 supported protocols

Computer Store News:

Microsoft today announced on its official blog that Outlook 2013 will support Exchange Active Sync. Microsoft pointed out that Outlook 2013 no longer needs the old Outlook Connector protocol to synchronize accounts with other devices and online services. Outlook 2013 uses the new Exchange Active Sync (EAS) protocol, which has become the gold standard on smartphones and other mobile devices.

In order to meet user needs, EAS will support the synchronization of mail, calendar, contacts and tasks in Outlook.com accounts. Microsoft also said that those who upgraded from Outlook 2010 clients to Outlook 2013 will find that their Hotmail accounts will automatically adopt the EAS protocol.
