We can develop a beautiful Firefox interface, but its processing power and speed will make it lose value, no user is willing to use such a browser. ”

Although Dozler’s “not worthwhile” comments suggest Mozilla’s possibility of abandoning Windows RT, this is not the official attitude of Mozilla.

Last week, Mozilla's lead attorney Harvey Andmidt said that the company's engineers were still evaluating the best strategy on the Windows RT platform.

Anderson and Dozler publicly condemned last week that Microsoft did not allow third-party developers to access the Win32 API in Windows RT, allowing their own software —— especially IE10 to call these APIs. Mozilla believes that these Win32 APIs cannot be called, and the Metro version of the browser on the Windows RT platform will be far less than the traditional Windows version. Other browsers will be at a disadvantage compared to IE10, in large part because the JIT JavaScript compiler cannot be run. Currently, all major browsers come with a JIT JavaScript compiler to quickly execute JavaScript code on the site.

According to Microsoft's current Windows RT development rules, only IE10 can call the APIs needed to run the JIT compiler. Dozler said, “Without the JIT compiler, users accessing sites like Facebook, Twitter and Gmail will be extremely slow. ”

Google has said it supports Mozilla on this issue.

The EU antitrust regulator has made it clear that Windows 8 must comply with the 2009 settlement. According to the agreement, the Windows operating system must allow the user to select a browser other than IE. But the EU antitrust regulator did not claim that Windows RT needed to comply with the same agreement.

According to Microsoft's 2002 settlement agreement with the US Department of Justice, Microsoft can ban third-party applications from calling the Win32 API in Windows RT, as the protocol only applies to "Intel compatible PCs".
