Win8 will no longer support DVD playback with a focus on network media

Computer store news According to foreign media reports, in the latest Building Windows 8 blog, developers have confirmed that in the upcoming Win8 operating system, Media Center will no longer be built in. DVD playback is not supported. If you want to use these types of files, you will have to purchase an upgrade package or take third-party software.

According to reports, the reason for Microsoft's decision was that the use of TV and DVD on PCs has fallen sharply.

Microsoft guarantees to future customers that the focus of Win8 is to support the playback of network media. Future operating systems can be compatible with H.264 streaming media, VC-1, MP4, AAC, WMA, MP3, PCM, etc. format. Win8 also comes with a Dolby Digital Plus decoder, but the strange thing is that the DVD playback function that the decoder mainly supports is deleted.

For those who want to have DVD playback, you can purchase an add-on package that integrates with the media center. If the requirements are not high, you can also use the DVD software bundled by most manufacturers on the drive. At the same time, users can also install the classic media player (Media Player Classic) and VLC media player to solve this problem.
