Seven Tips for Vista System Acceleration and Optimization

First, speed up Vista power-on and shutdown. First: "Start”->“Run”, type "<quo;regedit" in the open box" OK” ,Open the Registry Editor. Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop”. 1. Find “AutoEndTasks”, set its key value to 1 2. Find “HungAppTimeout”, change its value to 200, default to 50000; 3. Find the “MenuShowDelay” key and change its value. For “0”, you can remove the menu delay; 4. Find <;WaitToKillAppTimeout”, change its value to 1000, the default is 20000. Second: Locate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControl”. Set the value of “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” to “200”, so that the shutdown speed is significantly faster after setting. Finally: Navigate to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlShutdown” branch and create a new string value named "FastReboot" in the right window and set its value to 1. Restart the computer after exiting the Registry Editor for it to take effect. This will speed up Vista much faster. Second, reduce the Vista boot scroll time To speed up the blue scroll bar when Windows starts, you can open the registry editor, navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemoryManagementPrefetchParameters", find the "EnablePrefetcher" key on the right, put its default value Change from 3 to 1, so the scroll bar will take less time to scroll. Third, clear the DLL file that is not used in memory Open the registry to locate: "HKKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion", in the "Explorer", add an item "AlwaysUnloadDLL", the default value is set to 1. (Note: If the default value is set to 0, this function is disabled.) 4. Open the startup optimization function. Locate: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftDfrgBootOptimizeFunction”, set the value of Enable to “Y”. Fifth, improve the speed of broadband Windows, including Vista, retains 20% of the bandwidth by default, which does not have a big effect on individual users, rather than let it idle, make full use of it. At "Start”->"Run", enter “gpedit.msc” to open the Group Policy Editor (Vista Home Edition: Easily let your VistaHome version also support Group Policy Gpedit.msc) . Find & ldquo;Computer Configuration>->“Administrative Templates'->"Network”-> QoS Packet Scheduler>, select the right "limit to reserve bandwidth", select “Properties" Open Limits to retain the Bandwidth Properties dialog box, select “Disabled” This frees up the reserved bandwidth and is very useful for making the most of bandwidth and speed when surfing the Internet. 6. Optimize the visual effects Right click on the desktop or the “Startup” menu on the Start menu, select “Attributes”, select “ldquo;Advanced System Settings” in the left category view, click ““Advanced”, at &ldquo "Performance" on the tab, click "Settings", this will pop up the "Performance Options" window, click on the "Visual Effects" tab, adjust to "Best Performance", then &ldquo ; OK & rdquo;, so you can remove the animation of the menu, you should feel the speed has improved significantly. 7. Reduce the delay of disk detection In the DOS environment, execute the command “chkntfs /t:0” to reduce the waiting time for disk detection, indicating that the waiting time is 0 seconds. If no 0 or other seconds are specified, just Chkntfs /t, the current setting is displayed.
