The botnet virus targets the routers and DSL cats in the network.

Jan Vykopal, a security expert at the Computer Science Branch of the University of Masaryk, Czech Republic, recently discovered that a foreign action film martial arts star Chuck Norris (it is said to have played against Bruce Lee). The named botnet is madly attacking network routers and DSL cats connected to the Internet. Experts also said that the horrible and unique feature of this botnet is that it is not aimed at ordinary PCs, but devices such as routers and DSL cats.

This botnet virus first guesses the login password of these devices. After the guess is successful, you can log in to the device remotely. Not only that, but the virus is also said to exploit a fatal flaw in D-Link's products. A D-Link spokesperson said that he was unaware of the botnet virus and did not comment on the incident.

Similar to another botnet virus "Psyb0t" that was circulated earlier, this "Chuck Norris" virus is aimed at using the MIPS processor and running the Linux operating system, and the account name used for device management and A device with a lower password security level. According to reports, most routers and DSL cats currently use a combination of MIPS processor + Linux, but it is said that the target of this virus attack also includes satellite TV receivers and other devices.

Vykopal said it is unclear how far the Chuck Norris botnet has grown, but he said the virus is quite infected. "It is coming from South America, Europe to Asia. Spread around, this botnet virus seems to be targeting the network of ISP operators everywhere."

The meat machine infected and controlled by this virus will be used by botnets to attack other Internet. The system's attack method is to first guess the password of the target in a dictionary. After obtaining control, the target's DNS settings will be changed, so that when the other party accesses the Internet through the attacked router, it will be transferred to some malicious. On the site, these malicious sites then install virus software to the user's computer.

This virus is installed in the memory of the target device. Once the virus is installed in the target device, the virus will immediately block the remote communication port of the device and start scanning other attackable targets on the network. However, because the virus is installed in memory, users only need to restart the router and other devices to eliminate these viruses.

Users have three ways to prevent their devices from being attacked by this virus: 1- The easiest way is to use a higher security password; 2 - Update the firmware of the router and other devices at any time; The remote-access service of the device.

Experts also remind users that the future botnet virus for such devices will be even more raging, and it is recommended that users take the above measures as soon as possible to block security holes in their devices.
