Fault 1: Click the "Search” button on the Explorer toolbar or press F3, the system has no response.

Solution: First enter the C:Windowsinf folder (the folder property is hidden), right click on the srchasst.inf file, select the "Install" menu, the system will prompt you to insert the Windows XP installation CD The operation is to reinstall the search service component of Windows XP. For other faults encountered in the search, you can also use this method as the last straw.

Fault 2: The system prompts "A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup".

Solution: The cause of this failure is C: Windows.rchasstmui409 under the BAR.XSL, BALLOON.XSL and other files are corrupted, we can first try to empty the IE temporary folder, if the problem has not been resolved, please install http ://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Patch/Q319949/WXP/EN-US/Q319949_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe (English version of Windows XP users), if you have not installed SP1, please install.

Fault 3: The system prompts a yellow triangle warning with an exclamation mark.

Solution: First run the “Regedit” command to open the Registry Editor, and then navigate to the "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpace{e17d4fc0 -5564-11d1-83f2-00a0c90dc849}]” branch, found in the right window “Default”, change its value to “Search Results Folder”. Next, navigate to "[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerCabinet State]”, create a new string key on the right side of the window, named "Search Asst", and set its value to “no”.

Fault 4: &"Start” “Search” menu is missing.

Solution: Run the “Regedit” command to open the registry editor, navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer], create a new dword value named "NoFind" on the right side of the window, and set its value to 00000000 (hexadecimal).

Although the xp system is already a very mature and stable system, it is inevitable that some minor faults will occur. The four situations described above are that users encounter more difficult faults, and the user is familiar with it. After these solutions, you don't have to worry about encountering problems.
