The problem of files that cannot be moved when the C disk is defragmented

Recently, the C disk was sorted out and found that the C disk has a lot of "unmovable files" (green part), it is very strange, I have already "virtual memory" The page file size is set to <; no paging file> and the machine is restarted.

So in the <quo;Tools”-“Folder Options”-“View” setting, all hidden files are displayed.

Found a hiberfil.sys file, there is a 1.78G size, check it online:

There will be a hiberfil.sys file in the root of the system area, its size and memory capacity Again, what is this file?

Originally this is the hard disk space file occupied by the system's hibernation function (Windows default hibernation function is open), when the computer is in hibernation, all the contents of the memory will be saved to the hard disk, and the computer Will be closed.

After the computer returns to the open state, all programs and documents opened when the computer is turned off will be restored to the desktop.

That is, when you put the computer to sleep, Windows writes all memory contents to the hiberfil.sys file before shutting down the system.

Then, when you turn the computer back on, the operating system uses Hiberfil.sys to put all the information back into memory, and the computer is restored to the state it was in before the shutdown.

However, Windows leaves the hiberfil.sys file on the hard drive, even if it is no longer needed.

It turns out to be like this! And not limited to XP or NT.
