Quick View Shared Resources
In Windows XP, all the drives on the computer default to automatic sharing, but the shared hand logo is not displayed, which leaves a hidden danger to network security. We can fill in the cmd in the "Run" column to enter the command prompt, enter net share, quickly view the shared resources on the computer, find these shared directories.
If you are not used to the "command prompt" interface, you can open "Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Computer Management → Shared Folders" to view all the shared resources on the computer.
Clearing Shared Vulnerabilities
First make sure to log in to the system as a member of the Administrator or Power Users group and then clear the shared vulnerabilities in three steps.
1. Open "Start Menu → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services", find the "Server" service, stop the service, and set the "Startup Type" to "Manual" in "Properties" or "disabled".
2. Modify the registry. Open "Start → Run", enter regedit into the "Registry Editor", find the HEKY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\System\\
CurrentControlSet\\Services\\LanmanServer\\Paramaters subkey, and create a new name in the right window. "AutoShareWks" and a double-byte key-value called "AutoShareServer" with the value set to "0".
3. Using the "net share" command at the command prompt can also eliminate this hidden danger. Open the notepad that comes with Windows and type the following:
net share admin$ /del
net share ipc$ /del
net share c /del
Next save the file as a batch file with the extension "bat". Finally, use the Windows Task Schedule feature to have the batch file run automatically each time you turn it on.
Tip: If there are other disks that use sharing, such as D drive, add "net share d /del" to Notepad. Do not ignore spaces before the parameters when typing.
The Event Viewer is one of the management tools included in the Windows Management Console.
