Let NetBEUI Protocol Reproduce in Windows XP

In network management, configure the machine with the right network protocol, sometimes improving the quality of the entire network. NetBEUI is a network protocol that we are familiar with. Especially in the small campus network management of some primary and secondary schools, we usually use the NetBEUI protocol which takes up small and efficient system resources as the first choice, or it is used with TCP/IP protocol. This will optimize the operational effectiveness of the entire network.

I don't know if you found out? As early as Windows 9x/Me, NetBEUI, one of the three protocols installed by default, has no longer existed in the default installation of Windows XP because it does not support routing. Is there a way to make it reappear in Windows XP? In fact, it can be easily implemented through the Windows XP installation disk.

Method: directly restore the configuration file required by the NetBEUI protocol. Prepare a Windows XP system installation disk and log in as an administrator (Administrator). Open the Valueadd\\Msft\\Net\\NetBEUI folder on the installation disk, find the Nbf.sys file and copy it to the %Systeroot%\\System32\\Drivers folder, copy Netnbf.inf to % Systeroot %\\lnf (hidden attribute ) under the folder.

Then, we click “Start → Settings → Network Connection” to open the NIC Properties window for configuring NetBEUI protocol. Under the "General" tab, click [Install], in the network component selection list, select "Protocol", and then click the [Add] button below. The “NetBEUI Protocol” option will appear in the Select Network Protocol Selection window that pops up (as shown in the figure).


If you need to install, we just click "NetBEUI Protocol", then click [OK] to exit. Of course, now we know the specific path of the configuration file required by the NetBEUI protocol, which can be done by clicking the [Install From Disk] button in the lower right corner of the "Select Network Protocol" window as shown in the figure.
