The Windows XP system used by colleague Xiao Wang has experienced serious problems and needs to be reinstalled. This can make Xiao Wang angry. Reinstalling the system means not only reinstalling all the upgrade patches of the system, but also installing all the software again. Don't waste a lot of time?

In fact, Windows XP users do not need to be so cumbersome as long as they do preventive work in advance and restore their own computer systems. Because in Windows XP system comes a tool to restore the system - "Automatic System Recovery ASR" program (Automatic System Recovery ASR). It completely restores the Windows XP system to its original appearance, including the various configurations and installed software in the system. Let's use this new software added in Windows XP!

1. Basics - System Prerequisites

First, the hard disk on the computer is divided into at least two partitions, and the non-system partition (such as D or E disk) has enough free space, it will be used Store backup files. The size of the backup file depends on your system file and the size of the installed program, which is generally 2GB to 3GB. In addition, what we need is a blank and formatted floppy disk and a Windows XP system installation disk.

Two. Backup - Preparing for "Automatic System Recovery"

"Automatic System Recovery" is able to restore the computer system to its original appearance, relying entirely on system backup files. Therefore, backing up system files is our main preparation.

Click “Start” and select “Programs→Accessories→System Tools→Backup”. A “Backup or Restore Wizard” window appears. Click “Advanced Mode” to pop up the “Backup Tool” window, select the “Automatic System Recovery Wizard” button, and the “Automatic System Recovery Preparation Wizard” appears. When the dialog box asks “ When you want to save the system backup, change the path of the backup file from the default A drive to the D drive or other partition. The file name can be changed to the date of the current day, so that you can know when the backup file was created in the future recovery. . After setting, insert the floppy disk into the floppy drive and continue the backup operation to complete the backup.

After the backup is complete, you need to save the ASR floppy disk and system backup files, because in the future restore, these two things can not be less.

Three. Restore - also you have an identical system

If the system has serious problems, after the repair is still the same, then it is best to use "automatic system recovery" to restore the system.

First start the computer from the CD, insert the ASR floppy disk into the floppy disk drive, and press the F2 key when the system enters the CD-ROM installation program. During the restore process, the program will automatically delete the original system partition and format it (this is why you should not store the backup file in the system partition), then install the operating system, and finally extract and restore the original system file from the backup file. And program files.
