Most Linux systems come with on-screen protection, while a few systems don't. For example, Ubuntu 12.04, how do you install screen saver on a system without screen protection? The following small series will introduce you to Ubuntu to install the screen saver XScreenSaver.

Screen saver is a computer program primarily used for security purposes (translation: different from the original screen saver). When the computer is idle, this program will clear the screen or fill the screen with moving pictures or patterns. Screen savers can also be used to entertain or display system information. Screensavers are a great solution when you are planning to leave the office and don't want anyone to see the information on your computer.

How does screen protection make my computer more secure?

Screen savers can be configured to require the user to enter a password before allowing the user to continue working. However, please note that if you set it to automatically log in to the account after booting, the attacker can easily reboot the machine to log in to your account.

How to install screen saver?

Open a new terminal (ctrl+alt+T), as shown in Figure 1. Figure

Before installing a new screen saver we have to uninstall the default screen saver, run & lsquo; sudo apt-get remove gnome-screensaver & rsquo;, shown in Figure. FIG

and some additional mounting XScreenSaver screensaver package with the following command. sudo apt-get install xscreensaver xscreensaver-data-extra xscreensaver-gl-extra
