Explain the various problems that occur when Fedora 9 is installed.

Fedora 9 When you install Linux, you may encounter problems reading image files. Here is a solution to the Fedora 9 installation problem. Let's share it.

Fedora 9 installation After a short delay, it was finally released. This Fedora 9 installation brings a lot of features that appeal to Fedora fans. For details, you can learn from the release notes for the Fedora 9 installation. Friends who like early adopters may not be able to install trials, and my installation experience is not so enjoyable. Two common installation methods for Fedora, CD-ROM installation and Live CD installation.

1. CD installation

To experience ext4, etc., install the kernel when booting with the parameter Linux ext4. For details, please refer to the installation manual on the official website. I generally use reiserfs. I added Linux reiserfs seLinux=0. seLinux=0, which means that the use of seLinux is disabled. If you are installing on an existing system, you can choose to upgrade and a new installation. It is generally best to choose a new installation. The previous Fedora installation and upgrade experience tells me that it can't be upgraded seamlessly like the Redhat enterprise version. Direct upgrades can cause a lot of system problems. I usually choose a new installation so that I can really experience the features brought by the new version. Before installing Fedora 9, you must first protect the existing hard disk data to avoid losing important data during the installation process. Mainly

/etc

/opt

/home

Several directories.

If /opt, /home is a separate partition, you can choose to hang them to the corresponding directory of the new system during installation, but be careful not to format them.

You can also not mount any partitions first. After installation, modify /etc/fstab and hang it up.

2.Live CD Installation

The Live CD I used the earliest was Knoppix, which was later developed in Ubuntu. Fedora Installation The Live CD is the latest two versions. The Live CD can be used to try Linux without first installing it.

I haven't tried the Live CD from Fedora Linux yet, I don't know how it differs from Ubuntu. But Ubuntu's Live CD installation is not very good on my machine.

3.Upgrading with Preupgrade

In addition to CD-ROM installation and upgrade, Fedora 9 installation provides another new feature to upgrade, called PreUpgrade. Preupgrade claims to provide a seamless upgrade of the system and currently supports F7, F8->F9 upgrades. In Fedora 8, you must use version 0.9.3-3 to see the Fedora 9 installation. Now you have included the Fedora 8 official installation source and install it directly with yum. Start preupgrade with the superuser from the command line as shown. There are a few steps to follow. Download the new version of the release information compared to the existing operating system, calculate which packages need to be updated and download the package to be updated. After downloading the installation file image, you will be prompted to restart the system. There may be two problems during this period:

The first is that there is no .treeinfo file on some mirrors, which causes the fourth step to terminate the download (the new version may have been fixed).

Add the official Fedora official source to the first location in /var/cache/yum/anaconda-upgrade/mirrorlist.txt.

The second question, when all the downloads are completed, the fourth step is completed, the grub.conf will be written. Open the grub.conf file and navigate to the top Upgrade to ... section.

If your /boot is not partitioned separately, add /to the boot of stage2=hd:sda1:boot..... That is

stage2=hd:sda1:/boot....

If /boot is a separate partition, remove "/boot".

According to the official documentation, restart it, it will start the anaconda installer to upgrade the system, it will automatically install the package we just downloaded. An introduction to the Fedora 9 installation evaluation.
