Linux system Ghost into Windows XP error

Q: The notebook originally came with a Linux system, want to change to Windows, find the Windows XP Ghost version installation disk directly installed, after booting, it will prompt "GNU GRUB… ” The information, suddenly dumbfounded, online said to repair MBR, I have run fdisk /mbr, but not, what should I do?

A: This is because the notebook is installed with Linux, the MBR of the hard disk is the GRUB system boot program, and you directly install the Windows system with Ghost, and did not rewrite the MBR as a Windows-specific boot program, so boot appears That kind of error message.

The reason why fdisk /mbr is invalid is because this command is only valid for Win95/98 system. For Windows XP system, you should use the fixmbr command.

In addition, you can also use a third-party tool to rewrite the MBR, such as DiskGenius [click to download], the common WinPE system will come with this tool. Click on the hard disk on the DiskGenius toolbar, select "Rebuild the master boot record (MBR)" in the drop-down menu, you can rewrite the MBR, and then restart the computer to start the system normally.
