Configuring Windows Server 2008 Firewall - Allowed to be Ping

                  For security reasons, it is not allowed to ping the external command on Windows Server 2008. If you want to configure the ping to pass the previous setup steps, you will find that ICMP related configuration items cannot be found in the Windows firewall. The operation of this rule must now be configured through the Advanced Security Windows Firewall. The steps are as follows:

Open "Advanced Security Windows Firewall" in the management tool;

Locate the "Inbound Rules" in the left navigation form, and then find the configuration file type in the inbound rule as The "Public" "File and Print Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)" rule is set to allow.

Note: We can choose which network environment (domain, private or public) to allow the rule according to need. If the network uses IPv6, it also allows ICMPv6-In rules.

In addition, we can also use the command line to perform the inbound Ping rule is enabled or disabled, the command line is as follows:

netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8

netsh firewall Set icmpsetting 8 disable
