Windows 2000 server IIS open the parent path step

  

"Open the parent path" is the beginning of this concept in Windows 2003, the previous windows xp, windows 2000 comes with iis is not "Windows 2003". The default setting of Windows 2003 comes with IIS6.0 after installation is not to open the parent path.

"Open parent path" main role:

"Enable parent path", if you use code such as include file=../header.asp in ASP page, this item must be selected "Enable parent path", .. /indicates that the header.asp page in the superior directory is represented by a relative path. If the "Enable parent path" in your IIS page settings is not enabled, when accessing this page Will report an error, because the current IIS settings do not allow access to the parent path using .. mode, you need to set this value to true. Enable parent path Specifies whether the ASP page allows paths relative to the current directory (using ..\\ notation). If set to true, this property can pose a potential security risk because the include path can access important or confidential files outside of the application's root directory. If the parent path is not turned on for security reasons, it is recommended to write the absolute path when the path is pointed to, that is, the full address.

If iis does not enable "Enable Parent Path", "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error" will often appear, for example, a normal website program runs under Windows 2000 Server, and "HTTP 500" appears under Windows 2003. Internal Server Error"

How to enable the "Open Parent Path" function

In IIS Manager, expand the local computer, right-click the directory where you want to configure the application, and then click Attributes". Click the Directory tab and then click Configure. Click the Options tab. In the Application Configuration section, select the Enable Parent Path check box. Click "OK."
