SERV-U skills two

Using other people's hard disk to establish FTP

FTP is a service that network administrators contact frequently. It is not difficult to establish an FTP server in actual use, set up shared directory and account, etc. The operation is also very simple. However, as a qualified network administrator, you not only need to know the method of establishment, but also need to accumulate experience and discover skills through practical work. I have been using FTP for many years, and I am also responsible for the maintenance of multiple FTP servers in the company. In fact, I have accumulated a lot of FTP operation skills, which are written here and shared with the readers. Since the author company uses SERV-U to establish an FTP server, all operations are based on SERV-U software.

First, use other people's hard disk to establish FTP

At present, FTP server is widely used in small and medium-sized enterprises. Many companies have established their own FTP sites to provide employees with resources to share file downloads, etc. The capacity has always been a tricky problem, and several DVD movies will fill the hard drive. So as a network administrator, have you ever thought about using someone else's hard drive to store data?

In fact, the number of computers in each unit is a lot, but because the hard disk capacity of each computer is not very large, so the establishment of FTP will be a feeling of shame in the bag, how to solve the problem of hard disk capacity? Now I will teach readers how to use their own hard disk to build their own FTP by mapping the network disk.

First step: First use SERV-U to establish FTP, I am using SERV-U 5.0.0.10 version.

Step 2: This is a crucial step. We will use the disk mapping of other people's hard disks, provided that the user name and password of other people's computers are known. (Many machines in the unit are common, such as print server, file server, etc., so knowing the username and password is not a difficult thing.) Here we assume that the username is administrator, the password is 198029, and the computer IP is 10.91.30.45. The disk we want to map is the H drive. Now we enter the command line mode by starting-running-input CMD, and type the following command net use z: \\10.91.30.45h$ 198029 /user: administrator. (Figure 1)

Figure 1

When the screen display command is successfully completed, we can open the "My Computer" and you can see that the disk has been mapped to the Z disk. (Figure 2)

Figure 2

Step 3: When using SERV-U to establish FTP and set the home directory, you can select the network disk by browsing, so the actual FTP is established. The hard disk of the remote server 10.91.30.45 is used. (Figure 3)

Figure 3

After all the operations, when we access the FTP of this machine, we directly enter the network disk on 10.91.30.45, thus realizing the hard disk of others. I use it.

Tip: I used serv-u5 to do this. In the new version of serv-u6, this feature is disabled. I don't know if it is based on security considerations or other reasons. Therefore, readers who want to use other people's hard disks to establish FTP need to use the serv-u5 version.
