This application tutorial is completed in the Windows 2000 Advanced Server environment. It describes the installation, setup, and use of the common services that come with the 2K server. This series of tutorials covers the service installation and network property settings that come with the 2K server; the installation and use of the Web server and FTP server in IIS.
first add frequently used services; set the network properties
a commonly used service Introduction
1, DNS (Domain Name System): Domain Name System. It provides a mapping service for a computer on the Internet (ie, a domain name such as "www.abc.com") to an address (ie, an IP address such as "192.168.0.48") for domain name resolution.
2, IIS (Internet Infomation Server): Internet Information Services. It is a web service, mainly including WWW servers, FTP servers, and so on. It makes it easy to post information on an intranet or the Internet. Available on Windows 2000 Advanced Server is IIS 5.0.
3, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configure Protocol): Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It is a TCP/IP standard designed to simplify management address configuration. It uses the server to centrally manage IP addresses and details about other related configurations (such as gateways, DNS servers, etc.) used on your network.
Second, add DNS, IIS and DHCP services
1, add IIS. Choose Control Panel→Add/Remove Programs→Add/Remove Windows Components→Internet Information Services→Select All.
2, add DHCP and DNS. Choose Control Panel→Add/Remove Programs→Add/Remove Windows Components→Network Services→Check: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol DHCP→Check: Domain Name Service System DNS.
3. After the addition is successful, you can see and use related services in “Start → Program → Administrative Tools” without restarting. FIG follows:
Third, the network property
above the service to be used, the machine must be static (i.e., fixed) IP address. If it is only used in the LAN, in principle, any IP address can be used. The most commonly used value is "192.168.0.1" to "192.168.0.254". To bind a static IP address to the NIC, do the following:
1. Open the Network Properties Settings window: TCP/IP Properties Settings window. Choose Control Panel→Network and Dial-up Connections→Local Area Connection→Properties→Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)→Properties.
2, a first for the network adapter binding IP address: This IP will also become the default IP address of the machine. Select "Use the following IP address", enter "192.168.0.48" in the "IP address" field; enter "255.255.255.0" in the subnet mask field; if the machine is also a server in the network, then " The default gateway and the preferred DNS server are also filled in with this default IP address; if the machine is not a server in the network, the values of the default gateway and the alternate DNS server are the IP of the server. Address, and "Preferred DNS Server" is still the default IP address of this machine. This machine is herein assumed server within this site, as shown below:
3, the network card to bind more IP addresses: select step on the "Advanced", and "Add ", and then enter the second IP address "192.168.0.49", its corresponding subnet mask "255.255.255.0" system will be automatically populated; add more IP addresses the same method. As shown below: After
4, after the completion of all the settings, do not need to restart, exit this network properties settings window, the set takes effect!

property tests conducted for success, a common method may be employed as follows:
. 1, go to MSDOS mode: Select "Start →Run", enter "cmd" and then "OK".
2, view the machine configured IP address: Enter the "ipconfig" and then press Enter, you can see the relevant configuration. FIG follows:
3, you can also enter "ping 192.168.0.48" format to verify the second DNS

. DNS Overview
computer can only recognize numeric address such as "192.168.0.48" like when communicating on the network, then why when we open the browser, type in the address bar, such as "www.abc.com" After the domain name, you can see the page we need? This is after we enter the domain name, a computer with a "DNS server" automatically translates our domain name into the corresponding IP address, then calls the web page corresponding to that IP address, and finally sends it back to us. We can get the results.
DNS is an acronym for Domain Name System (Domain Name System), is a computer and network services organized into a hierarchy of domain naming system. DNS naming is used for TCP/IP networks, such as the Internet, to locate computers and services with user-friendly names. When a user enters a DNS name in an application, the DNS service can resolve this name to other information related to the name, such as an IP address.
So, we want our domain name on the internal network to be successfully parsed (ie translated into IP address), we need to build our own 2K machine into a DNS server, which contains our domain name A mapping table between the IP address and the IP address. This usually requires the establishment of an A record, which is short for Address, meaning "host record" or "host address record", which is the most common of all DNS records.
two, DNS settings
1, open the DNS console: Select "Start Menu → Programs → Administrative Tools → DNS."
2, the establishment of the domain name "admin.abc.com" Mapping IP address "192.168.0.50" host record.
1Create a "com" area: Select "DNS→WY (your server name)→forward search area→right click→new area", then select "standard main area" and "name" according to the prompts. Enter "com". As shown below:
② establish "abc" domain: choose "com → Right → New domain", enter "abc" in the "Type a new domain name" Department.
③ establish "admin" host. Select “abc→right click→new host”, “name” is “admin”, “IP address” is entered as “192.168.0.50”, then press “Add host”.
3, the establishment of the domain name "www.abc.com" Mapping IP address "192.168.0.48" host record.
1Because the domain name "www.abc.com" and the domain name "admin.abc.com" are both in the same "area" and "domain", they have been established in the previous step, so they should be used directly. , just add the corresponding "hostname" in the "domain".
2Create "www" host: Select "abc→right click→new host", enter "www" in "name", enter "192.168.0.48" in "IP address", and finally add host "Yes.
4, the establishment of the domain name "ftp.abc.com" Mapping IP address "192.168.0.49" host record as above.
5, the establishment of the domain name "abc.com" Mapping IP address "192.168.0.48" host recording method and also the same as above, but must remain "name" A is empty! Once created, its "name" will display "same as the parent folder". Establishing good DNS console shown below:
6, more hosts to establish a recording or various other similar recording methods. More is established as shown below:
7, there may be used when creating the "abc.com" as a whole "area", and the establishment of the "host" directly below it Practice. However, this method is inconvenient when there are many similar records.
Third, verify
the DNS setting is set to carry out a successful test, usually comes with 2K "ping" command to complete. The format is "ping http://www.abc.com".
