It is well known that every server connected to the Internet has a unique IP address, which is called a digital URL. However, the IP address similar to 202.96.134.133 is obviously obscure and inconvenient to remember. Therefore, people use URL (Uniform Resource Locator) to indicate the website address, such as www.micosoft.com, which is called a text URL. To a large extent, it makes up for the shortage of IP addresses, which is not only easy to remember, but also very intuitive. 1. Introduction to FastNet99:

FastNet99 is a free software that has won the prestigious ZDNet Five Star Award in the United States. The latest version is version 4.3. FastNet99 downloaded from the Internet is a ZIP format compression software with a size of 2.83M. Decompress it with WINZIP and other decompression software and run the SETUP.EXE file to enter the standard WINDOWS software installation process. After the installation is complete, run FastNet99 in the “Start” → “Programs” → “FastNet99” program group to start the program and enter the main interface. FastNet99's interface is very simple, with four menus and toolbars at the top, and five tabs in the middle, such as Add, Eidt, Options, Bookmarks, and History. You can do most of the work. At the bottom are three status bars, which in turn show the number of servers in the current IP list, the most recent operation, and the IP address of the current computer.

FastNet99 uses a variety of methods to modify the Hosts document (IP list) in the Windows directory, if verified, the computer will automatically refer to this file when surfing the Internet, and There is no need to query the remote DNS, so the speed of the Internet can be improved to a certain extent. Over time, the speed increase will be more obvious.

1, scan history: This function is implemented through the History tab. FastNet99 allows users to scan the history in the browser and add the visited URL to the IP list. Microsoft Internet, Netscape Communicator, Opera and other three major web browsers, which store historical records or files are c: windowshistory directory, fat.db and global.dat files. In general, when you press Search the Registry, the software will quickly search for the installed browsers in the system and locate the history. Then, press the Scan button and the software will start scanning the IP address of the visited URL, of course, you must be online. When the scan is finished, the specific results are displayed in the status bar in the middle.

2, scan favorites (bookmarks): In addition to the scan history, FastNet99 can also scan the favorites (bookmarks) of the above three browsers, which is really considerate. Click on the Bookmark tab to enter. The specific implementation method is the same as above. It should be noted that the favorites (bookmarks) of IE, NC and Opera3.xx are: windowsfavarites directory, bookmark.htm and opera3.adr files.

3, manual addition: Add tab provides great convenience for users to manually add IP list. The software provides two manual addition methods: Find IP and Find URLs. When you select "Find IP", a text input box will appear below, where you enter the text URL you want to find, such as http://www.chinabytecom, and then press the OK button. If found, DONE will be displayed, otherwise an error message will be displayed. The speed at which FastNet99 finds IP is very fast. If you select "Find URLs", two input boxes will appear, set the range of IP addresses to be searched, the program will find all the text URLs in this range for you, of course, the purpose is to add the scanned URLs. Go to the IP list.

4, merge IP list: If you have a list of IPs or an IP list on the ISP's DNS, you can use the HostsMerge program that comes with the software to make your computer become a big one. DNS, but this seems too exaggerated.

Click the Edit tab to enter the edit of the IP list. Here you can delete, copy, verify, etc. Fill in the URL in the bottom of the Fast URLs Search field. In the Ping button, Ping information about the URL is very convenient. In addition, the software also provides the ability to provide an alias for the URL, but the effect is not ideal in actual use.
Third, advanced settings:

Master the above methods is basically enough, but if you want the software to serve you better, you must set it. In the Options tab, you can customize FastNet99. Click Options to enter the software setup screen. General allows you to customize how the software works. There are eight checkboxes:

Check the corresponding checkbox and press the Apply button, but some options will not take effect until the next time the software is started. If you want to restore the program's default settings, press the Default button.

In addition, there are a few websites on the Internet whose IP addresses are dynamic, such as the famous Yahoo website (www.yahoo.com), ICQ website (icq.mirabilis.com), etc., so you can use the ignore list button on the toolbar. Such sites are excluded from the IP list.
