For every computer user, the backup of data is undoubtedly not negligible. Usually we simply copy important data to somewhere. But when the data to be backed up is distributed in different folders, simple copying can be cumbersome. Secondly, maybe only one of the files in a folder has been changed, but we also copy the entire folder, which wastes a lot of time. In view of these inconveniences, many professional backup software came into being. While we are learning to use these software, some of them still have to pay a registration fee. In fact, one of our commonly used software can easily achieve intelligent backup, eliminating many of our troubles. This is WinRAR. Not only that, but by working with some common features in Windows, you can achieve a higher level of application. Let's talk about how to use this common compression software for intelligent backup and update of data.
1. First, we need to know which files and folders need to be backed up. In my case, I need to back up the working folder (located at d:\\lj\\work), mail folder (located at d:\\foxmail\\mail), and private files (located at d:\\lj\\private files). The installation path of WinRAR is C:\\program files\\WinRAR. So the following is also based on my folder as an example, readers can make changes according to their actual situation.
2. Next, you need to create a backup list file (with 1st as the suffix). The content of this file is the path to the specific data that needs to be backed up. I created a text file called mybackup.1st in the backup folder (D:\\lj\\back) in my own directory to store mail and work file information. Enter the following in it: D:\\lj\\work //Back up the working folder D:\\Foxmail\\mail //Back up foxmail letter D:\\lj\\Private file //Back up my private file
( Note: This file is in front of the file or folder that you want WINRAR to back up. "//" is followed by a comment on the previous item, which will not affect the file. The backup list file name can be used casually, but the suffix name cannot be changed)
In fact, the data on other machines in the LAN can also be backed up locally. In this case, write the full path of the file or folder to be backed up in the list file, for example \\\\computer1\\d \\lj\\work. It should be noted that you must log in to the machine first or do not need to enter the network password, otherwise WinRAR will refuse to compress because it cannot provide the password.
3, create a backup file Right click on the desktop, select the "New" → "Shortcut" command, click the "Browse" button in the window that opens, find the WinRAR.exe file, and then add: A–ep2–ibck d:\\lj\\back\\backup.rar @d:\\lj\\back\\mybackup.1st, (there should be spaces between each command) The last command line should be: “c:\\program Files\\WinRAR\\WinRAR.exe"a–ep2–ibck d:\\lj\\back\\backup.rar @d:\\lj\\back\\mybackup.1st
Name this shortcut “Backup” . Double-click the shortcut, WINRAR will automatically read the files and folders to be backed up in the backup.1st file in the background. A vertical line on the WINRAR icon indicates the backup process and automatically back them up to d:\\lj\\back \\backup.rar file.
The meaning of the parameters in the above command line is: "a" means to add the specified file and folder to the compressed package; "-ep2" means to store the complete file path when compressed; "-ibck" means Run WinRAR in the background. Also note that the horizontal line before "-ep2" should be the minus sign in English. In fact, there are more command parameters for us to use, for example -p1234 can set the password 1234 for the backup file and so on. You can check in the help file of winrar.
4, update the backup file The above operation is just a simple backup of important data, far from intelligent. Because we work every day, the data changes constantly, so we must update it frequently. Backup updates can of course be done by clicking on the "Backup" shortcut, but re-backup takes too much time. We can let WINRAR find the changed files for updating. The specific operation is: copy the "backup" shortcut on the desktop. And rename the copied shortcut to "Backup Update". Then right click on the file and change the command line in the properties to: "c:\\program files\\WinRAR\\WinRAR.exe" u–y–ibck d:\\lj\\back\\backup.rar @d:\\lj\\back \\mybackup.1st (The parameter u indicates that the file in the compressed package is updated, and -y indicates that all queries answer "yes") and is determined. In this way, as long as you double-click the "Backup Update" shortcut on the desktop before leaving work, you can update the backup of the above files to achieve data synchronization.
If you are backing up before shutting down, you can add a command "-ioff" to the above command line, that is, change the command line to "c:\\program files\\WinRAR\\WinRAR.exe ”u–y–ibck–ioff d:\\lj\\back\\backup.rar @d:\\lj\\back\\mybackup.1st. In this way, each time you double-click the shortcut, the computer will automatically shut down after the background backup of the data is finished. Is it very smart?
Now, we have been able to easily back up and update important data. In fact, by combining with the common functions of Windows, we can make backups more intelligent. For example, we can add the shortcut of the created backup update to the "scheduled task" of the Windows system, and then specify the running time for it to achieve the function of scheduled backup; you can also drag the shortcut to the left mouse button with the left mouse button. "Start" → "Programs" → "Start", this will automatically update the backup each time you turn it on. There are more features, I hope that readers will explore it!
