Follow me to learn to use the ghost ghost Ghost tool articles

In the previous two studies, we learned more about using Ghost to perform backup and recovery on the system. From the last two uses, we have already learned about the power of Ghost, but do you know that in addition to the backup and recovery we have in the past, we can also use the other tools provided by Ghost to better serve us. . Below, we will divide the two parts into two detailed instructions.

First, Ghost's Check function

Sometimes, we use Ghost to back up the system files, but I don't know if the backup file is complete, in order to prevent myself from recovering the system later. After the backup is completed, I suggest you check the image file with GCheck's Check function, so as not to regret it later. The check procedure is as follows:

1. Run the Ghost.exe program (it is best to revert to the DOS state when running) and execute "Local" → "check" → "Image file" command (Figure 1), the team prepared a backup file will be checked;

2. in the dialog box shown in Figure 2 select to be checked backup file. If at that time the mouse is unavailable, please use the TAB key to switch keyboard;

3. Next, Ghost program will ask you whether immediately The backup image is completely checked (as shown in Figure 3). If you confirm, click “Yes”. If you want to exit, click “No”;

4. Figure 4 is the image file. Detect progress display window. Wait patiently...

After the file detection is completed, if there is no error in the current file, a “Continue” dialog box will pop up; if the current file has errors, the program will try to fix it. At this time, I recommend it. You re-run the backup.

Second, Ghost Explorer function

Sometimes, we have to check what file system is backed up in the system file, then the Check function can not help us, and sometimes, we The system does not crash, but only needs to recover some of the error files. What's more, we need to add some specific files to a special location of the image file. Do these features Ghost have that? Rest assured, all of this can be done with Ghost Explorer for Ghost 6.0!

the implementation of the "Start" → "program" → "Norton Ghost" → "Ghost Explorer", you will see a similar resource manager The window (Figure 5), here you can browse the contents of the image file. Here, we only explain some useful features.

1. Extract the file. To put it simply, we can extract the previously mirrored files and use them again. For a simple example, when I backed up, there was an important file in My Documents. After the backup, the data was lost when the original file was modified. In this case, we can use Ghost Explorer to extract the original file. come out. Expand the image file, find the "My Documents" branch, then find the file you want to restore in the right window, right click on the file, select "Copy", and then copy it to any place

2. restore files. Careful friends may have seen it in Figure 5. In fact, when we click the right mouse button, there is a "Restor" recovery command in the menu that appears, so let's take a look at this recovery command. Select a file, click the right mouse button, select the "Restor" command, you will see the dialog box shown in Figure 7, select the "Restore to" address, you can even change the file name (in fact, the function and Copy The function is a bit similar).

3. Delete the backed up files. Sometimes, although we have tried to keep the system clean before the backup, there are always some unsatisfactory places. For example, I have a junk file in the "My Documents" image at the same time. Although this does not affect the use, but it takes up a lot of disk space, what should I do? Remove it. Open Ghost Explorer in the same way, then switch to the "My Documents" branch, select the file you want to delete, right click and select "Delete" to delete it (you can also delete it directly using Delete). Ghost Explorer will prompt you to delete it. Whether the file continues (as shown in Figure 8), click "Yes" to continue.

4. Add files to the image. There is an important file, I want to add it to the image, can I? of course! First confirm the file you want to mirror, then use Ctrl+C to copy it, then switch to the Ghost Explorer window and paste it into the image using Ctrl+V. Of course, the more straightforward way is to use the mouse to drag the target file to a directory in the image file.

Of course, Ghost Explorer is more than that simple. If you are interested, you can check out the help files to make it a better tool for you. At least I found that it can also be used as a backup image for my download. As for the role, of course, it saves hard disk space.

So far, about Ghost's features, we can only say a simple understanding. As a powerful system backup image tool, its use may not be as simple as we said, and if I really want to explain every detail for you, it may take too many pages and text. So, if you encounter any problems during use, I hope that you can solve them through the help file.
