How to disable Win10 to automatically update the preview version

Users who have installed the Win10 Preview should notice that their Win10 system will automatically upgrade to the new version after a while. If you don't want Win10 to automatically update the preview version, you can use a little bit to prevent it from automatically updating.

By default, when Microsoft pushes a new Win10 preview version via Windows Update, Win10 will automatically download and install a new preview version.

This is a good thing for Windows Insider members who are eager to adopt, but after all, the new preview version has unknown bugs and instability, so some users don't want to automatically update to the new one at the first time. Preview version. So how do you not let Win10 automatically install a new preview version?

The method is as follows:

Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following path in the left branch navigation:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\WindowsSelfHost\\Applicability\\RecoveredFrom

Note: It is recommended to back up the registry before modification (Win10 backup registry method)

If there is no RecoveredFrom item, you can create a new one. Then create a new DWORD (32-bit) value called the new preview version number in the right window. For example, if you don't want to automatically upgrade to Win10 Preview Build 10049, create a DWORD (32-bit) value named 10049, and then Set the value data of this value to 1. This way the current Win10 preview will not be automatically updated to the Build 10049 preview.

If you want to restore the automatic update preview version later, just delete the created DWORD (32-bit) value.

However, this method can't be done once and for all. Microsoft has to set up an updated preview version again, but it can only be used now.
