Installing Windows 10 in UEFI Mode

UEFI is designed to initialize hardware faster and can be loaded into the operating system from a pre-booted operating environment, so UEFI computers have faster startup speeds than BIOS computers. Some users' computers use UEFI instead of the traditional BIOS. In order to better display the advantages of UEFI, these users need to correctly install Windows 10 in UEFI mode.

Please follow the steps below to install Windows 10 in UEFI mode.

1. Obtain the appropriate installation media (system CD or USB flash drive). The official Windows 10 system CD already supports UEFI installation.

2, start the computer with your installation media. You may need to modify some advanced startup options for your computer. However, most computer motherboards now have a special button to modify the boot sequence. The more common ones are F8, F9, F11 or F12. You can refer to your computer (main board) manual or pay attention to the startup screen prompts for the start sequence button (usually at the bottom of the screen or at the bottom left). You can also try searching for your computer (board) model to see the buttons for the boot sequence switch.

3. When the Windows installer starts, you need to reformat your hard drive with the GPT partition table, because the Windows installer only recognizes GPT partitions in UEFI mode. If you have already done this, you can install Windows on the appropriate partition already listed, then go to step 4. If this is not the case, delete all previous partitions until only the label "Unallocated space" appears in your hard drive partition option.

4, you can click Next, then the system will format and then install. Of course, you can also manually partition, then select a partition suitable for installation as the primary partition, click Next to install.

5. installation process will automatically partitioning the following rules:

① recovery partition.

2 system reserved partition —— This EFI partition contains the core files of the operating system, just like the previous system version of NTLDR, HAL, boot.txt and other files, which are necessary to start the operating system.

3MSR—— Microsoft System Recovery (MSR) partition is the storage space used internally by Windows in each hard disk partition.

4 primary partition —— This is a common partition for Windows and all user data storage, ie system partition.

6. The following can continue the installation work in the usual way.

By properly installing Windows 10 in UEFI mode, it will better show the features of UEFI computer startup, so you can get a shorter boot time.
