Use the Windows 7 system comes with a disk management tool to adjust the hard disk partition size

The Windows 7 operating system itself comes with many system management configuration tools, such as a disk manager that adjusts the hard disk partition. In Windows XP, we need to use some third-party software to manage hard disk partitions, such as creating new partitions, formatting, resizing partitions, and merging partitions. So now I have purchased a new computer. When installing Windows 7 system, we don't have to care about how to partition. The hard disk size adjustment operation of the partition can be put into operation after the system is installed. In this example, let's look at how to adjust the size of the hard disk partition on a computer with Windows 7.
First run the disk management tool: Click the Microsoft icon in the lower left corner and type diskmgmt.msc in the search box. To ensure administrator privileges, do not press Enter directly. Instead, right click on diskmgmt.msc in the search results above and select Run as administrator. Below:

Open Disk Management Tool
The disk management tool is opened at this time, the interface is as follows:

Let's take a look at how to compress a partition (that is, we saw the C drive, D drive, etc.), part of the establishment of a new partition. Right click on the drive letter that needs to be reduced in size to select the compressed volume.

right click on the partition to select the compressed volume
The system will pop up a prompt window“ querying the volume to get the available compressed space, please wait. A new adjustment partition dialog will appear after the analysis is complete. Above you can see the total size before compression, which is the total capacity size of the partition. The number of input compressed space (MB) indicates how much space is available to be split from the current partition to create a new partition.

Entering the amount of compressed space
Now enter the size of the new partition in the input box for the amount of compressed space (MB). This number cannot be greater than the value in the original input box. This is calculated in MB. Generally, the size of the hard disk is now calculated in GB. You can simply think that 1000MB is equal to 1GB. For example, if you need 10GB of space, you need to enter 10000 in the input box, and so on. But the system is calculated as 1GB = 1024MB, so the final size of 10000MB will be slightly less than 10GB.
Then click on the Compress button and you will see a new partition appearing behind the partition that was just resized. Then you can create a volume on the new partition and format it to use it. It can be seen that Microsoft's own system tools are powerful enough, and because it is a tool that comes with the system, the stability is much higher than that of third-party tools. In the past, when you adjusted the partition in Windows XP, you often need to restart the system and there is a risk of failure. If the system is a Windows 7 system, it is recommended to use the partition management tool that comes with the system for partition adjustment.
