Remove Windows 7 system video acceleration

Under Windows XP, many users have turned on the video acceleration function of Windowsx Media Player (hereinafter referred to as WMP) player. In this way, some HD cards can be used for better HD playback. When the operating system is developed to Windows 7, the hardware environment of most users can already cope with the demand of high-definition playback. Therefore, the video acceleration function that plays a role in Windows XP is now somewhat outdated.

When Windows 7 users use WMP 12 to play HD video files, they often find that the CPU usage is high and even 100% occupancy. This is probably because WMP 12 has enabled video acceleration. The video acceleration function has certain practical significance in the Windows XP era, but now it can smoothly run the Windows 7 hardware environment, which can basically meet the needs of high-definition playback. Therefore, we can shield it to save system resources.

Run WMP 12, click "Tools→Options", in the pop-up dialog box, switch to the "Performance" tab, and cancel the "DirectX Video Acceleration for WMV File" which is checked by default, as shown below:

After the modification is completed, save the settings and exit.
