Windows 7/XP/Vista LAN Drive Sharing

Q: There are many operating systems in the LAN, including XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Now I have a problem, that is, XP can see the shared drive in the network neighborhood, but it does not have permission when accessing. Since the shared drive can't use the wizard, only advanced sharing can be used, but the "Everyone" permission has been added to the advanced share. How can it be said that there is no permission? Please give pointers!

Answer: Because you have neglected a point - sharing is subject to the NTFS permissions of the file system in addition to the corresponding permissions. Therefore, you must also add the corresponding NTFS permissions in the security tab of the drive, and the drive formatted under Windows 7/Vista and the following directories have no "Everyone" and "Guest" permissions by default. However, since the permissions of NTFS are automatically matched and updated when sharing by wizard, there is no problem with the general shared folder.

The default permissions for Windows 7/Vista formatted drives are: Authenticated Users (XP does not have this); System Administrators (Administrator Group); Users (Limited User Groups). The default permissions for XP are: Administrators (Administrators); CreatorOwner (the owner of the created folder, Vista does not have this); Everyone (the drive under XP has read-only permissions by default).

One of the main differences is the CreatorOwner. The folder owner established under XP is the specific user who created the folder, so after the NTFS is configured with the reconfigured folder, the unknown account displayed in the form of SID will appear. The default owner of Windows 7/Vista is the group. For example, if you are an administrator, the folder owner you create is the Administrators group. So the folder created under Windows 7/Vista does not have the corresponding permissions of CreatorOwner.

The reason is so much, the solution is one sentence: just click the right mouse button on the shared folder you created or the NTFS format hard disk, and then select "Properties → Security", then " Group or User Name" column "Edit", then click "Add", enter "Everyone" in "Enter Object Name to Select" and click "OK". The XP machine can access the shared drives and folders you created in Windows 7/Vista.
