Windows 7 disk encryption technology BitLocker has been cracked

December 8 news Fraunhofer SIT security lab recently said that they have successfully cracked Windows7 disk encryption technology BitLocker.

Fraunhofer SIT researchers say that even if BitLocker is used with a hardware-based Trusted Platform Module (TPM), they can successfully crack data on disk. Previously, the industry generally believed that the combination of BitLocker and TPM double swords basically ensured that the disk data was safe.

Fraunhofer SIT researchers said: "The attack method shown this time does not mean that BitLocker has loopholes, or that trustworthy computing is useless. They are still effective disk encryption products, but there is no It's as safe as you think."

BitLocker disk encryption technology is used in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Server 2008 to prevent others from illegally reading data on the hard drive. If used in conjunction with TPM, security will be greatly improved.

In response, Microsoft said it was aware of the issue but declined to comment further.
