Intel: Windows 7 will drive enterprises to upgrade hardware in 2010

Intel officials said on Tuesday that Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system will drive enterprise buyers to replace hardware in 2010.

John Davies, Intel's sales and marketing officer, accepted a Reuters phone interview when he promoted Intel's computer for school in Portugal on Tuesday. He said that with the introduction of Windows 7, you can see this as a factor driving enterprise computer procurement. Windows 7 will drive the growth of the PC market.

Davies said that we think Windows 7 is now mainly in the consumer market. The industry is still experimenting with Windows 7. In 2010, companies may deploy Windows 7. They will need new hardware.

The analyst warned that the US unemployment rate of about 10% or more will curb consumer enthusiasm for purchase. Some analysts also said that most of the company's computers are still relatively new, with a lifespan of less than four to five years. This is the time period for the update.

However, Davies said that he is optimistic that the cycle of enterprise computer replacement will come soon.

Davies pointed out that sales in emerging economies are growing, especially in China and Latin America. At the same time, computers purchased by governments for the education industry have grown by 20%.
