Microsoft's recommendations for Windows 7 SP1 installation

First, if you just want to upgrade a PC or your home PC, then Microsoft recommends that you get SP1 push through Windows Update instead of downloading it to the Microsoft Download Center or using the online installation package. Windows Update will give you the best installation experience.

Secondly, before installing Windows 7 SP1, it is best to back up your PC or important files to an external hard drive, DVD/CD or network.

Third, you'd better make sure that your device drivers are up to date;
